QUICK SHOT (AUTOMATED FLIGHT MODES)
Rocket Mode will ascend the drone directly upward while the camera is pointing downward. Rocket mode is one that a pilot could do pretty simply manually, but it's nice to know you can focus more on the camera shot rather than the flight controls.
Dronie will fly the drone backward and upward while the camera is locked on the subject. Dronie shots make for some captivating clips that reveal the scenery around the subject. I've found it works well when I am hiking and want to show off my surroundings.
The third QuickShot mode is Circle, which will circle around the subject at a specific height. This flight mode doesn't disappoint and is another entertaining way to reveal the scenery around the subject.
Next is Helix, which will fly the drone upward and spiral around the subject. Helix is similar to Circle, but rather than staying at a fixed height and distance, the drone will start close to the subject and fly further out in a spiral path rather than a complete circle.
Asteroid will create the awesome panoramic shots that you've probably seen around instagram and facebook. The drone will start to fly in a small area snapping photos of the entire environment around itself. When it's complete, you can use the DJI Go 4 App and zoom around inside this sphere of photos. It's a really great feature to mess around with and can produce some fun photos.
The Boomerang flight mode is like a mix of rocket and circle. The drone starts out filming the subject close-up, then launches away diagonally, while circling around the subject. As the drone has almost completed it's circle, it will again fly closer to the subject. The naming of this feature is spot on, as the drone is essentially flying just as a boomerang would away from the person who tossed it.
The DJI Mavic Air is an awesome new addition to the Mavic series. It’s compact size and ability to fold up make it a great companion for anyone who travels, hikes, or likes to explore. It’s lightweight for carrying, but durable for any accidental bumps or crashes; which should be near impossible to achieve as it’s so well equipped with sensors and automatic safety features. If you are looking to get your first drone, or maybe looking to downsize your current one, I would recommend the Mavic Air. Impressive in size, features, battery, camera, video, and automation. What more do you need?
